Bow making workshop

Wild Walk Bushcraft in collaboration with Adam Logan bring you a weekend bow making workshop.

Using traditional craft skills and his decades of bow making knowledge Adam will take you through the processes of turning our native Ash wood into a beautiful and functional long bow or flat bow.

This course will take place at the Wild Walk woodland camp not far from the historical town of Antrim at the foot of the stunning landscape near Tardree forest.

Our beautiful woodland is boarded by 2 rivers and has a fantastic mix of tree species plant and animal life.

All of the tools and materials are provided and our top quality instruction ensures you get the most out of your bow making experience.

The Workshop includes

  • History of the bow
  • Choosing your bow Wood the dos and donts.
  • Anatomy of the bow
  • Instruction in use of axe, draw knife, saw, rasp, knife and spoke shave.
  • Use of primitive tools like flint.
  • Measurements and bow dynamics.
  • Shaping the bow.
  • Tillering and fine tuning.
  • Choosing the right arrow
  • String making and modern vs natural string material
  • Serving the string and nocking points.
  • Measureing the draw weight
  • The 12 points of shooting the bow.
  • (If time allows we will cover basic demonstartion of arrow making)

Also Included in this course

Onsite camping in the woodland this camn be tent or hammock camping ( small 1 -2 person tents only family sized tents wont fit) Composting Toilet and rain water shower facilities.

Pick up and return to airport and/or train station in Antrim.

All tea coffee water snacks for duration of the course.

Shops for food are within 10 mins drive (if you arent in vehicle we will provide you transport to from shops)

Campfire cooking facilities available ( if you wish to use your own stove we can arrange gas for you at extra cost)

We can also provide rent of

2 person Tent ( limited numbers first come first served

Tarp and hammocks

Roll/sleep mats

Sleeping bag 3-4 season
